Whoops - Days 4 and 5.
DAY 4 - MY FAVORITE BOOK
This is RLY RLY hard for me; I spent many years reading instead of having friends. To be honest, I'm not sure that I've met more than maybe one or two people who are nearly as well-read as I am (yuck, that sounds vain, but I don't mean it that way), though it's possible many have caught up in the years since I've had bbgurls because it's been pretty hard to read for pleasure ever since, hurr hurr.
I'm going to go with an old stand-by though: The Unbearable Lightness of Being, by Milan Kundera. It's a book I enjoy on pretty much every level (plot, pace, poetry, purport - SEE WHAT I DID THERE). I think most people can come away from it feeling a little uncomfortable and very satisfied, which is a hard combination of emotions to achieve. Open-ended closure, I guess.
DAY 5 - MY FAVORITE QUOTE
Uh. Haha. Two of them, at random:
The struggle of man against power is the struggle of memory against forgetting. - Milan Kundera (I KNOW), The Book of Laughter and Forgetting
If you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to serve as a horrible warning." - Catherine Aird

Ah, facebook. An old high school boyfriend's current status:
Headline: "Annise Parker makes history as the first openly gay politician elected to lead a major U.S. city." Translation: "Providence, RI saddened to discover it was never really a major city."
I'm glad we can be friends, bb.

DAY 3: YOUR FAVORITE TELEVISION SHOW
H'OKAY. So my favorite currently-running shows are 30 Rock and 48 Hours Mystery (HA HA, I KNOW, SHUT UP). I also watch a lot of other Discovery ID shows and Discovery Health (or at least I did when we still had cable, lulz) and a few in-poor-taste adult cartoons. And I miss Freaks and Geeks like WHOA.
But I'd have to say that of all the shows that have consistently brought the lulz every time, I love and miss Arrested Development the most.
( Other Days )
And now we have a Great-Granddaddy's birthday party to attend.

DAY 2: YOUR FAVORITE MOVIE
Uh... I have too many, haha. Honestly I will probably forever heart Pulp Fiction and Superbad. I also lurve Mean Girls, Rushmore (generally most Wes Anderson, really), The Shawshank Redemption (YES I AM ONE OF THOSE), a multitude of foreign films for which I require subtitles, and a large number of cartoons and Kubrick films in general.
But instead I'm going to tell you about my favorite totally underrated movie. Which is the 2005 remake of The Producers. COME ON, NATHAN LANE YOU GUYS!

You know. Since everyone else is doing it.
DAY 1: YOUR FAVORITE SONG
Hahahaha, I could never actually pick just one, but to throw one of 'em out there, here's Moonage Daydream. I love this song every time I hear it. I was at this Of Montreal concert once and they played a cover of it and Kevin cried; SRSLY. It's that awesome (even though it's best when Bowie sings it, obvsly).

So I took the fabric money, bought my sister's gift, and spent the rest on a pre-lit Christmas tree and large, shatter-proof ornaments. Haha. I need to sell enough extra now to afford at least a table cloth for the long card table in the dining room (you know, so I can give it at least a little dignity until we can afford a REAL table) and another $5 pack of ornaments to round the tree out. Not so bad, I'd say.
BBgurls were THRILLED when they woke up to their very own tree this morning. They insisted on putting the ornaments on before Kevin left for work. Then they remained so in awe of it we decided to go to Granddaddy's house to get HIS tree out of the attic and decorate it while he was at work (because he never would have bothered and it made me kind of sad to think he'd be alone in that house for the first time ever during Christmas without us and have NOTHING cheerful around).
Only he wasn't at work, he was sleeping in after a doctor's appointment, so I had to convince bbgurls to stay quiet while I made an ass of myself trying to get the fucking six foot tree down the rickety attic ladder without dying. Hilarity ensued, but luckily only my two-year-olds witnessed the comical misfortune. AND I TOLD THEM NOT TO TELL YOU ABOUT IT, SO THERE.
I will say that sometimes, for fun, I imagine my life in the context of a situation comedy and try to decide on a case-by-case basis if the pilot would make the network if it featured whatever given situation I am in. Today's episode was a definitive yes.
And I should probably clean and/or take a shower at warp-speed before bbgurls wake up. I think we're going to dinner tonight with said Granddaddy and I'm kind of gross from wandering around in his attic.

I am posting mostly because I want everyone to admire the sweet icon
dryad271 pimped for me. I am in the spirit now, see.
Speaking of which, I've resorted to selling the rest of my knit fabric stash to get my sister something nice/some Christmas decorations and/or guest amenities for my house. O GOD I WILL HAVE GUESTS. WITH NOWHERE TO SLEEP, LULZ. Maybe I'll ask my dad to buy me a guest bed for Christmas when he comes up. I mean, that's kind of win/win for him too, given the circumstances, amirite?
You want to know something my family did wrong, Folks Who Are Still Planning Families? My mom, sister, and I all have birthdays at the very beginning of January. POOR PLANNING ALL AROUND. I always think I'm on my A-game with Christmas gifts and budgeting and fun and then the next day I wake up like GAWD DAMMIT MOM'S BIRTHDAY IS ON THE FIRST AND KATIE'S IS RIGHT AFTER. Mine is the day after Katie's. Even though I am older. Because we are 364 days apart (no joke - there's some flist trivia for you).
Luckily they'll both be here right after Christmas, so maybe I can get everyone drunk at a Mexican restaurant and call it a birthday treat or something.
OH, do you know what I have to do while bbgurls are at MDO tomorrow? NOTHING. Because my exams don't start until Saturday. HA HA HA HA HA, I am entirely too excited about this. Coffee in peace, you guys! Not while dealing with fighting toddlers or plodding through thick anatomical jargon at the asscrack of dawn in a crowded library!
Too bad next week will be stressful. And then bbgurls will be on vacation from MDO when I get out of my last exam, lulz.

Let's see if somebody hacks it with survey links and they shut it down without ever mentioning it to me again! :D
Has anybody else been following the Amanda Knox trial in any way/shape/form?
That verdict = LAAAAME. Minus ten points, Italy.
And generally I think everyone is guilty no matter what, lulz.
